JULEGAVEN: "Julen er blitt en gavefest i sin etterligning av Gud som har gitt seg selv til oss.
La oss tillate vårt hjerte, vår sjel og vår forstand å bli rørt av
dette faktum!" (Pave Benedikt XVI) Foto: Believe in the Magic of Christmas |
Sigrid Undset har skrevet noen vakre, vakre ord om julens mysterium som jeg deler her.
"Is not this the last and most mysterious reason for the joy of Christmas - that the world has been turned upside down; that the Almighty has laid aside His insignia of office and receives our gifts, if we want to give them to Him? They mystery of the Atonement is introduced with a Christmas play, the real meaning of which is far beyond our poor comprehension; but for almost two thousand years the world has echoed every Christmas with the noise and merriment of children who come to visit the stable, and humanity has played itself warm and full of laughter around the Son of God who has become a little child for its sake.
[...]
So let us follow the children who sings at the top of their voices:
Adeste, fideles,
Laeti triumphantes
Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
And when we give each other Christmas gifts in His name, let us remember that He has given us the sun and the moon and the stars, and the earth with its forests and mountains and oceans - and all that lives and move upon them. He has given us all green things and everything that blossoms and bears fruit and all that we quarrel about and all that we have misused - and to save us from our foolishness, from all our sins, He came down to earth and gave us Himself.
Venite adoremus Dominum."
